I am very happy to see that “The Smooth Jazz Cruise” published such a wonderful article yesterday within their newsletter (The Smooth Jazz Cruise) about SARDAA‘s efforts to bring more awareness to all of us in the world concerning schizophrenia and other brain disorders. Here is a direct link to the article: Jazz On My Mind
I intend to continue supporting SARDAA and its efforts because of how serious of an issue this is in our society. I wrote about this subject in my newsletter that went out last night (Vel Lewis Music news & updates). Look at the recent horror of eight (8) people killed here in the Houston area (Conley – Jackson family) a few days ago; the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting: ABC News – Colorado shooting; and let us not forget the Charleston, SC church shooting last month. Too many horrific events like this have occurred over the past few years. The bottom line to all of this in my opinion remains that we are around people every day who need help. A few years ago, there was a commonly-used expression, “What’s normal?” Well, I believe those of us who think we have our feet on the ground need to learn how to help those of us who aren’t sure of “what’s normal” before anarchy becomes the “norm”.
Register today and join me, Tom Braxton, and Larry Braggs on October 10th for a night of “Contemporary Jazz On My Mind” while we gather to support SARDAA for their annual conference and learn more about what we can do to help. (SARDAA tickets/registration).
