All About Jazz
This November has been a month I will never forget. Two radio interviews on the same day, November 3rd – the first interview on the “Hybrid Jazz from Trish Hennessey” show (you can still listen here: www.blogtalkradio.com), then race downtown for another interview on KCOH Radio “The Water Cooler” show with Angie C aka “The Shoe Diva” to join Mr. Efrem Jernigan, President of South Union Community Development Corporation (www.southunioncdc.org) as we talked about a Skype video presentation I would do with world-renowned Italian classical pianist Francesco Attesti (www.attesti.com) on November 5th for South Union CDC’s “STEM” students. The program is called “The Art and Science of Piano and Organ”. For the first of five video presentations, Francesco and I demonstrated our instruments by performing selections by Johann Sebastian Bach, and talked about the science and engineering associated with the construction and design of a piano. The next presentation on December 10th will focus on Jazz greats who studied classical music, while I perform a few Jazz songs of my own on organ and explain the science and engineering associated with the construction and design of the Hammond organs I use.
On November 10th, I performed for the Sugar Land Heritage Foundation’s “Prohibition Speakeasy” benefit event held at Anson Aviation. Now, I’ve performed at the Apollo Theater in New York, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, and many other fantastic places in my career, but never in an airplane hangar! A very cool event!
I joined Angie C again last night for a few minutes on-air to talk about a SARDAA.org “Casino Night” benefit event I will perform at on Saturday, November 19, 2016 with my good friend, Jazz saxophonist Tom Braxton. Tickets can be purchased here: www.sardaa.org
And then prior to Saturday night’s event, I will do another interview on GHP Radio “The Indie Live Spot” (listen here: www.ghpradio.com) Saturday afternoon, November 19 @ 2pm Central.
So much great excitement, while I mourn the loss of a very good friend my family and I considered to be a member of our family, bassist Victor Bailey. A service and tribute for him will be held today, so I will remain in prayer throughout the day for him and his family. Please enjoy this YouTube link of one of his live performances and say a prayer for him today: http://bit.ly/VB_live
